How treatment works

From first visit to finished smile

The assessment

A full examination, photographs and a 3D scan to see the bone in three dimensions. Gum health and grinding habits are assessed at the same visit, because both affect how long an implant lasts.

The plan

You get a written plan with stages, timings and a fixed figure — including what happens if bone grafting turns out to be needed, so there are no mid-treatment surprises.

The placement

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, usually in under an hour. Most people are back to normal the next day and describe it as easier than the extraction that preceded it.

The crown

After healing, a crown is made to match your own teeth in shade and shape. A review schedule follows, because implants last on maintenance, not luck.

How much does a dental implant cost in Twickenham?

Is it painful?

The placement itself is done under local anaesthetic and is usually less uncomfortable than people expect. Soreness for a few days afterwards is normal and managed with ordinary painkillers.

How long do implants last?

Well-placed implants in a well-maintained mouth routinely last fifteen to twenty-five years and often longer. Gum disease and smoking are the two things that shorten them most.

How long does the whole thing take?

Typically three to six months from placement to final crown, because the bone needs to fuse to the implant. A temporary tooth covers the gap in the meantime for front teeth.
