    A local guide

    Finding a dentist
    in KT3.

An honest guide to choosing dental care across New Malden, Motspur Park and Old Malden — what your options are, how treatment is usually priced, and the questions worth asking before you agree to anything. Written by Dr Sundeep Solanki, GDC 212282.

Dental care in KT3, honestly described.

New Malden and Motspur Park are well supplied with general dental practices along the High Street and the surrounding parades, serving a large and settled local population. The distinction worth understanding here is between a practice that offers cosmetic treatment and one that is built around it — longer appointment blocks, in-house scanning, photographic records and a consistent laboratory. Both can be right; they are simply different services, and the fees reflect that rather than the postcode.

    • The A3 towards Kingston then the A310 brings KT3 into Twickenham in around twenty-five minutes off-peak.
    • New Malden and Motspur Park stations both connect through Kingston or Wimbledon towards Twickenham.
    • For multi-appointment treatment, ask to have visits grouped — two longer sessions usually beat four short ones from this distance.

    Your options

    What kind of practice
    do you actually need?

    NHS or private?

NHS dentistry covers treatment that keeps you healthy — examinations, fillings, extractions, dentures. It does not cover cosmetic work: whitening, veneers, bonding and clear aligners are private wherever you go. Most people use a mix of NHS for essentials and private for appearance-led work, and that is perfectly sensible.

General practice or a cosmetic-focused practice?

A general practice looks after routine care for the whole family. A cosmetic-focused practice spends its time on alignment, shape, colour and replacing missing teeth — usually with longer appointments, digital planning and a strong laboratory relationship. Ask which of the two you are walking into.

    Who actually does the treatment?

In larger practices the dentist who plans your case is not always the one who does it. Ask who will be holding the handpiece, how many similar cases they complete a year, and whether you will see the same person at every visit.

    Referral or in-house?

Implants, complex alignment and gum treatment are sometimes referred out. That is not a bad sign, but it changes the cost and the timeline. Ask early.

    What things cost

    How dental fees
    are usually built up.

Prices vary between practices, so rather than quote anyone else's, here is how each type of treatment is normally priced — so you can compare two quotes properly. Our own fees are published in full on the fees page.

    Consultation
Some practices charge for a cosmetic consultation, some include it. Either way you should leave with a written plan and a written cost before anything begins.
    Whitening
Supervised whitening with custom trays is the most predictable cosmetic change per pound spent. Beware anything sold outside a dental practice — in the UK, only a dental professional may legally whiten teeth.
    Composite bonding
Usually priced per tooth, so the total depends entirely on how many teeth are treated. Ask for the per-tooth fee and the number of teeth in your plan, not a single headline figure.
    Veneers
Porcelain costs more than composite and lasts longer. The laboratory work and the number of appointments are what drive the difference.
    Clear aligners
Priced by case complexity, not by brand. A short case correcting the front teeth costs far less than a full-arch case. Ask whether retainers, refinements and whitening are inside or outside the quoted fee.
    Implants
Quoted as a total for the implant, the abutment and the crown — three separate components. Always ask whether the quote includes all three, plus any bone grafting and the scans.

    What to ask

    Eight questions
    worth asking anywhere.

    1. 01What exactly is causing the thing I don't like — and is it cosmetic, or is something underneath it?
    2. 02What are my options, including doing nothing for now?
    3. 03What is the full cost, in writing, including scans, retainers and follow-ups?
    4. 04How long will it last, and what happens when it needs replacing?
    5. 05Can I see before-and-after photographs of cases you have treated yourself?
    6. 06Who do I call if something goes wrong at the weekend?
    7. 07Is my gum health good enough to start cosmetic work today?
    8. 08What is the maintenance — hygiene visits, retainers, polishing — and what does that cost each year?

    Asked in KT3

    Questions we hear
    from KT3 patients.

Can appointments be grouped to reduce travel?

Usually yes. Bonding, whitening reviews and impressions can often be combined into longer sessions, which suits anyone travelling from KT3. Mention it when the plan is being written rather than afterwards.

What happens at a first cosmetic consultation?

Health first — gums, bite and any existing restorations — then photographs, usually a scan, and a discussion of options including doing nothing. You should leave with a written plan and a written cost.

How far is Sunny Dental from New Malden?

About twenty-five minutes via the A3 and Kingston to 2 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3RY.

How much does composite bonding cost near New Malden?

Bonding is priced per tooth, so the total depends on how many teeth are treated. Our per-tooth fee is published on the fees page, and your written plan states the exact number of teeth before anything begins.

Can I see before-and-after photos of real cases?

Yes — consented patient cases are published on the portfolio page, and Dr Sunny shares his work on Instagram. Ask to see cases similar to yours at the consultation; a practice doing this work daily will have them.

    01

The Harley Street standard, without the journey

What people travel to Harley Street for is a named dentist, unhurried appointments, digital planning and a natural finish. That is exactly how this practice works — a few minutes from home, with no central London trip at every stage of the case.

    02

    One dentist, start to finish

Dr Sundeep Solanki plans and carries out the treatment himself. You see the same dentist at the consultation, the fitting and every review — no handovers, no associate rota.

    03

Cosmetic work is the day job

Composite bonding, porcelain veneers, clear aligners, whitening and implant restorations are what this practice spends its week doing, rather than a sideline to routine care.

    04

    Written plans and fixed fees

You leave the consultation with the treatment written down and the cost agreed before anything begins. No open-ended estimates and no pressure to decide on the day.

    05

    Built for families as well

Parents book alongside teenagers and grandparents. Longer appointments, a calm room and a slow approach for anyone who has had a bad experience in a dental chair before.

    06

    If you dread the chair

Longer appointments, a slower pace and a dentist who explains each step before it happens. Plenty of patients here have avoided dentists for years — nobody is lectured about it.
