Last updated 21 September 2026
Who we are
Sunny Dental, 2 London Road, Twickenham, London, TW1 3RY, is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. The practice is led by Dr Sundeep Solanki, registered with the General Dental Council under number 212282.
This policy explains what we collect through this website and through your care at the practice, why we hold it, and the rights you have over it under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect through this website
- — Enquiry and booking forms: your name, email address, telephone number, the treatment you are interested in and anything you choose to tell us in the message field.
- — Review submissions: your name, your review and any rating you give. Reviews are only published after the practice has approved them.
- — Mailing list: your email address and name, where you have asked to receive offers and news.
- — Smile Advisor and Smile Goals Planner: the description you type is sent to an AI provider based in the United States to generate general guidance. We rely on approved UK transfer safeguards for that, we do not ask you to identify yourself, and what you type is not added to your patient record unless you later send it to us as an enquiry.
- — Technical information: basic device and browser data needed to serve the site securely.
What we collect at the practice
When you become a patient we hold a clinical record: your medical history, clinical notes, photographs, radiographs and scans, treatment plans, correspondence, consent records and payment history. These records are held because they are necessary for your care and because we are required to keep them.
How those records are stored, secured and disposed of is set out in our Data Protection page.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- — Consent: mailing list subscriptions, published reviews, and optional marketing photographs.
- — Contract: arranging and delivering the treatment you have agreed to, and taking payment for it.
- — Legal obligation: record-keeping, safeguarding and reporting duties placed on a dental practice.
- — Vital interests: acting in an emergency where you cannot give consent.
- — Health and social care purposes (Article 9(2)(h)): holding clinical information about you, handled by professionals under a duty of confidentiality.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. We share only what is necessary, with: dental laboratories and specialists involved in your treatment, your GP or another dentist where you ask us to or where your safety requires it, our secure IT and appointment-system providers, our payment provider, and our insurers or professional advisers where a claim or complaint requires it.
Some of our technology providers process data outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- — Adult clinical records: at least eleven years after your last appointment.
- — Records for patients under 18: until their 25th birthday, or eleven years, whichever is longer.
- — Website enquiries that do not lead to treatment: up to two years.
- — Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
- — Reviews: until you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, ask us to erase information we no longer need to keep, object to or restrict certain uses, withdraw consent for marketing at any time, and ask for your data in a portable format. We respond within one month.
To exercise any of these, contact the practice using the details below. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
Clinical records are held in access-controlled systems with encryption in transit. Website submissions are stored in a secured database that only authorised practice staff can read. Everyone at the practice works under a professional duty of confidentiality.
