Smile transformations in Twickenham: what is realistic, and in what order

A transformation rarely means one treatment. It usually means a careful sequence — and sometimes doing less than you expected.

Social media has made the dramatic before-and-after the default picture of a smile transformation. In practice, the best results usually look like a well-rested version of the same person. Dr Sunny's planning at 2 London Road starts from your face, your existing teeth and what you want to change — not from a template.

    The usual sequence

    • Health first: gums, decay and any grinding addressed before cosmetic work
    • Alignment: aligners can move teeth into better positions so less tooth needs adding or removing
    • Whitening: sets the target shade before any tooth-coloured material is matched
    • Bonding or veneers: refine shape, length and edges last
    • Retention and maintenance: retainers, polishing and reviews keep the result

    Why order matters

Bonding cannot whiten after it is placed, and veneers placed on crowded teeth may need more preparation. Getting the order right is often the difference between a conservative plan and an aggressive one.

    How long it takes

A bonding-only refresh may take one or two visits. A plan that starts with aligners usually runs over several months. Your written plan sets out the stages, reviews and fees before you commit.

    Seeing real results

Consented patient cases appear in the before-and-after gallery as they are added, and Dr Sunny shares explanations on Instagram at @sunnydentaluk. Every result is individual; photographs show what was possible for one person.
