Composite bonding in Twickenham: a local guide
Bonding is the most conservative way to reshape a smile — no drilling, usually no anaesthetic, and often finished in one visit. Here is what to know before you book in Twickenham.

Composite bonding adds tooth-coloured resin to the edges or surfaces of teeth to repair chips, close small gaps and even out shapes. Because nothing is drilled away, it is often the first treatment to consider before veneers.
What bonding can and cannot do
- Can repair chips, worn edges and small gaps
- Can lengthen short or uneven teeth
- Cannot whiten teeth — whiten first if you want a brighter base
- Cannot correct significant crowding, which may suit aligners first
How long it lasts
With care, bonding typically lasts several years before it needs polishing or repair. It can chip or stain sooner with grinding, nail-biting or heavy tea, coffee and red wine. Our guide to how long bonding lasts goes into the detail.
Risks and alternatives
Bonding is reversible in most cases, which is its great advantage, but it is not as stain-resistant or as strong as porcelain. Alternatives include porcelain veneers for larger changes, aligners for crowding, whitening for colour alone, or no treatment.
