What happens at a cosmetic dentistry consultation?

A calm first visit should clarify health, priorities, alternatives, timing and complete cost before you decide on treatment.

A cosmetic consultation is not a sales appointment. It is a clinical assessment and a conversation about what you want to change, what you want to preserve and how much intervention feels acceptable.

    The assessment

    • Your dental and medical history
    • Teeth, gums, bite and existing restorations
    • Photographs and a digital scan where useful
    • Your priorities, timing, anxiety and budget
    • Alternatives, including doing less or doing nothing

    What you should leave with

You should understand the sequence, likely appointments, limitations, maintenance and itemised fee. A complex plan may need further records before it is final, but you should not be pressured to decide on the day.

    Preparing if you are nervous

Write down your main concern and any difficult past experience. Tell the practice before the visit if you need more time, breaks or a stop signal. The first appointment can remain a conversation if that is what helps you begin.
